We want to share a heartwarming milestone for a very special pup who has officially found his “furever” home.

Introducing “Reduced Bean Count” (A.K.A. Beans)

If you haven’t met him yet, allow us to introduce Beans (also affectionately known as Beano, Beano Boy, or Beanie Baby).

Beans is a charming senior dog who recently spent over five weeks at the shelter. Sadly, senior pets often face the toughest challenges when looking for a family; some studies show that older dogs wait up to three times longer to be adopted than their younger counterparts.

But Beans is anything but ordinary:

• The Story Behind the Name: He was dubbed “Reduced Bean Count” because he was born missing several toes.
• Age is Just a Number: While he is an older gentleman, shelter staff initially thought he was half his actual age because of his incredible zest for life and spry, energetic demeanor.
• The Best of Both Worlds: At 65 pounds, Beans is the perfect package. He possesses the wisdom and stellar behavior of a senior dog, paired with the charisma and spunk of a puppy.
• His Favorite Hobby: Claiming his rightful spot as a giant lap dog.

Why Senior Pet Adoption Matters

Stories like Beans’ are exactly why pet adoption is so vital. Every animal deserves a safe, loving environment, but senior pets especially deserve the chance to spend their golden years surrounded by comfort, patience, and a family that sees just how much love they still have to give.
