Olympic Plumbing Technology Puts the “Fun” in Fundraiser
Our August 11th, 2023 community event was a BIG success!
Ollie, our fearless Bigfooted mascot, hosted a free barbecue, raffle, and cornhole tournament for the community at Woodland Creek Community Park in Lacey, WA. The event was a fundraiser and supply drive benefitting the Olympia Firefighters Foundation and their school pantry program, and through generous community support — from individuals and local businesses — we collected a BIG pile of supplies and over $1,000 for the foundation.
Lacey Fire District 3 Paid a Visit
The Lacey Fire crew must have smelled our barbecue because they swooped in right as we fired up the grills. Jokes aside, we were thrilled they could accept our invitation and swing by in between calls. They played a few rounds of cornhole to get those boards warmed up for the tournament and posed for pictures — of course — cuz firefighters…
During their visit, we learned about the philanthropy of the Lacey Fire crew and were inspired by the work of the Lacey Firefighters Charity. They make BIG community meals during the holidays and distribute gifts to those who need help to put something under the tree during the festive season. We knew instantly that we had to help, so after the event, Olympic Plumbing Technology donated $1,000 to Lacey Firefighters Charity.
More Than a Dozen Local Businesses Pitched In!
We never could have pulled off an event like this without the generous support of the community. Over a dozen local businesses pitched in, offering donations of food, services, and raffle items to help raise money and gather supplies. The Olympia Firefighters Foundation school pantries are stocked up this year, with special thanks to:
- Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen

And an extra BIG shout out to our friends at H2O Away and Capital Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric for providing the Grand Prizes for the Cornhole Tournament!
Only One Team Could Win
Only one team could claim the grand prize in the cornhole tournament, but each player on the winning team took home a prize. How cool is that!? The players on “Bilbo & the Bean Baggers” took home a Pit Boss 850 pellet grill and a BIG ‘ol bag of pellets donated by Capital Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric, and a CharMaster Deluxe grill and smoker combo donated by H2O Away.
Bilbo & the Bean Baggers completely smoked the competition. (Sorry, we had to.)
